In 1953, Charles A. Moore, "Charlie" invented the CAM pipe clearing system. At the time, he was a plumber and inventor, working for Bill Beatty a building manager at Selz & Southman Realty on the southeast side of Chicago.
Bill Beatty asked Charlie to restore the flow of a hot water line in one of the buildings he managed that had just been renovated. Mr. Beatty did not want any of the newly re tiled bathroom to be disturbed, so it would be necessary to accomplish this restoration by other means..
Charlie accepted the challenge, and tried many common methods to restore the water flow, with no success. He was frustrated and believed that there had to be a method to restore water flow without breaking into the walls, and decided to invent a way. The CAM Pipe Clearing machine was invented, and water was restored to the bathroom to the delight of Mr. Beatty.
Mr. Beatty rewarded Charlie by giving him a list of other units around the city that he knew had the same problem and CAM Pipe Clearing was born.
Improvements to the machine have been made over the years, but the goal remains the same to restore water flow to challenging blockages at a reasonable price.
